We enjoy guacamole with all kinds of Mexican foods and it is so quick and easy to make. I prefer it when you can taste the wonderful avocado flavor but feel free to adjust the recipe to your own tastes and add more garlic, onion, lime juice or Tabasco.
Avocados are the key ingredient of this recipe. They should be nice and ripe and should give a little when you gently press them with your thumb. They shouldn’t feel either hard or squishy. Hard avocados can be left on the counter for several days to ripen.
- 2 ripe avocados
- Juice of ½ a lime (alternatively: lemon juice)
- ¼- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 pressed garlic clove
- 2-3 dashes Tabasco (or other chili sauce)
- ½ red onion, finely chopped (alternatively: green onions or regular onion)
- Cut avocados in half lengthwise, remove pit. Scoop out flesh and put it into a medium-sized bowl. Drizzle with lime juice. Mash avocado with a fork or an immersion blender. Stir in salt, pressed garlic, Tabasco and chopped onion and adjust seasonings to taste.
